The economic crisis and poverty in Turkey, which started in 2015-2016 and deepened with the coronavirus pandemic, began to put intense pressure on university students. The working age gradually decreased, and many of the students were forced to work at the same time as they continued their education. In particular, the education period of university students exceeded the normal undergraduate education periods, and the number of students who dropped out of their education or could not go to university despite successfully passing the university exam gradually increased.

The housing problem, which has become a big problem for everyone living in Turkey with serious rent increases, has become the main problem for students.

Although students form movements such as “We cannot shelter”, this problem is increasing. The lack of sufficient student dormitories and the inadequacy of existing dormitories for human life were among the main demands of these movements. This deep poverty and the inability to meet basic human needs have led to the increasing restriction of the lives of students and young people living in Turkey and their lack of access to the opportunities available to their peers in many countries of the world. The number of young people who choose to study abroad or work abroad is increasing.

This film was shot to convey the basic problems of university students who have to work while continuing their education in Turkey and face deep poverty and to show that thousands of students are almost fighting for their lives in the face of the same problems.

Director Biography

Engin Deniz Atlı was born in 2000 at Lüleburgaz.

He started his high school education at “Anatolian High School” and completed it at “Private Genç Değişim High School” in 2018, with the support of a scholarship.

He completed an associate degree at “Anadolu University, Department of Justice” and studied in the “Creative Writing department of Müjdat Gezen Art Center Conservatory”.

He worked as a reporter for “Evrensel Newspaper” between 2015-2020.

He undertook the editorship of “Yeni E Magazine” in 2021.

He was the editor-in-chief of two magazines, “Pardon” and “Kızan”, in the Thrace region.

Currently he is the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Görgülü”.

Producer Biography:

Sema Fener is a teacher, author and movie maker. She is one of the founders of “Mimar Sinan Academy Motion Picture Department”, İstanbul, Turkey and currently teaching “Screen Play Writing Technics” at MSM (Müjdat Gezen Art Centre) Creative Writing Department, İstanbul, Turkey.
